From Canvas to Car: Coho Films Captures Mimi Kvinge’s Nature-Inspired Mural on Volkswagen Fleet

Coho Films recently had the privilege of producing a vibrant documentary-style video for Volkswagen, in collaboration with Pacific Northwest artist Mimi Kvinge and the PSIA‑AASI (Professional Ski Instructors of America–American Association of Snowboard Instructors). Now in its second year, this partnership brought Mimi’s distinctive, nature-themed artwork to life across a fleet of mural-wrapped Volkswagen Atlas, Tiguan, and Golf Alltrack vehicles—bringing the wild beauty of the outdoors to the roads.

Uniting Art, Adventure & Brand Storytelling

Volkswagen and PSIA‑AASI partnered to support snowsports instructors nationwide, outfitting 4MOTION-equipped SUVs for mountain access . To fortify this collaboration visually, they enlisted Mimi Kvinge, whose imaginative landscapes—painted live for the film—echo the spirit of freedom, exploration, and alpine adventure.

We documented her creative process, from blank canvas to jaw-dropping wrap, capturing how her sweeping mountain motifs naturally complement the rugged capability of VW vehicles. It’s a beautiful fit: nature-inspired art seamlessly merging with SUVs built for adventure.

Executing Cinematic Art on Wheels

Coho Films handled the entire production workflow:

  • Time-lapse footage of Mimi’s painting sessions—bringing her brushstrokes to life on car surfaces

  • Dynamic B‑roll of vehicles navigating mountain roads, interwoven with close-ups of her artwork

The final video celebrates the convergence of art, automotive, and outdoor culture—reflecting each partner’s commitment to craftsmanship and the natural world.

Continuing Creative Collaboration

This project marks the second year of the VW–PSIA‑AASI partnership, now expanded to include Atlas, Tiguan, and Golf Alltrack models . With each iteration, Mimi’s social presence grows, and the campaign becomes richer and more immersive.

Sea to snow, Mimi’s peaks traveled with the fleet from the Cascades to resorts across the country—helping to elevate the instructors’ mission and VW’s outdoor DNA through beautiful moving imagery.

Capturing art in motion, across any surface—from mountains to motors—Coho Films merges creative collaboration with cinematic storytelling.
