Honoring Everyday Champions: Coho Films Celebrates Community with Seattle Kraken’s “Heroes of the Deep”

At Coho Films, we believe storytelling has the power to shine light where it’s most needed. That’s why we’re incredibly proud of our ongoing collaboration with the Seattle Kraken and their philanthropic arm, the One Roof Foundation, on a community-driven initiative called Heroes of the Deep—a campaign that honors real people making extraordinary contributions in the Seattle area.

Each Kraken home game, one local hero is spotlighted in front of thousands of fans, receiving a $35,000 donation to the nonprofit of their choice. Our role? To visually bring their story to life—with dignity, energy, and emotion.

Building the Visual Identity of “Heroes of the Deep”

The One Roof Foundation’s goal was simple: celebrate those making a difference beneath the surface—in schools, shelters, clinics, food banks, and neighborhoods across Washington. We helped shape that vision into a compelling visual treatment that plays in-arena on the jumbotron during each home game.

From logo animation and motion graphics to color grading and editorial pacing, we designed a cohesive video package that elevates these everyday champions, making their moment on the ice unforgettable.

A Deeper Dive: Video Stories from Season One

In the Seattle Kraken’s inaugural season, we went even further—producing individual video stories for each honoree. These cinematic vignettes offered fans a deeper look into the incredible impact each person has made, from mentoring youth to advocating for equity and delivering critical social services.

Each story was crafted with care and respect, filmed in the neighborhoods and communities these heroes serve. With a focus on intimacy, humanity, and hope, these films were shared in-arena, on social media, and by the nonprofits themselves—extending their reach far beyond the rink.

A Campaign Rooted in Gratitude

Working with the Kraken and One Roof Foundation on Heroes of the Deep has been a tremendous honor. These aren’t just stories—they’re moments of real recognition for people who rarely seek the spotlight but deeply deserve it. Being part of this initiative has reaffirmed our belief that film can be a tool for gratitude and meaningful change.
