Creating Space for the Next Generation: Victoria’s CodePath Journey with Comcast and Coho Films

At Coho Films, we believe that powerful stories don’t just inspire—they shape the future. So when Comcast invited us to help spotlight one of their most impactful community investments—CodePath—we were all in. Together, we told the story of Victoria Johnson, a Seattle-based student whose life was transformed by access to mentorship, opportunity, and hands-on coding experience.

This campaign wasn’t just about highlighting a success story—it was about illustrating what equity in tech can look like when the right support systems are in place.

CodePath: Changing the Face of Tech, One Student at a Time

CodePath is a nonprofit organization reprogramming higher education by preparing underrepresented students for careers in tech. Through a combination of industry-vetted courses, mentorship, and career support, they help Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, and low-income students thrive in one of the world’s fastest-moving industries.

With over 26,000 alumni from 600+ colleges and partners like Comcast, CodePath is building a new generation of engineers, startup founders, and CTOs—one course, one internship, and one story at a time.

Telling Victoria’s Story

Coho Films was brought on to produce a branded documentary short featuring Victoria Johnson, a driven, tech-minded student in Seattle whose journey was shaped by CodePath and Comcast’s investment in her future.

Our work included:

  • Pre-production interviews and scripting to craft an authentic story arc

  • Cinematography and location filming to bring Victoria’s daily life and aspirations into view

  • Documentary-style editing and score to reflect the honesty and optimism of her experience

  • Branded storytelling alignment with Comcast’s DEI initiatives and CodePath’s mission

From the classroom to her career aspirations, we followed Victoria as she explained how CodePath gave her not only technical skills but also a sense of belonging in the tech world—something many students from marginalized communities are often denied.

Impact Through Authenticity

This film wasn’t about flashy effects or overproduced content. It was about grounded storytelling, human connection, and celebrating the real-life impact of programs that are working.

Projects like this reaffirm why we do what we do—to spotlight the people and programs shaping a more equitable, empowered future.
