Basin and Range Unscripted: Community Skis
Authentic Stories, Outdoor Roots: Coho Films & The Locals Project Introduce Basin & Range with Backcountry.com
At Coho Films, we’re passionate about helping brands forge real connections with their audience. For Backcountry.com, the world’s second-largest online outdoor retailer, we paired with The Locals Project to introduce their new apparel line, Basin & Range, through a series of intimate, character-driven film and photo stories.
Bringing Real Outdoor Enthusiasts to the Forefront
Backcountry.com connects outdoor lovers to over 1,000 independent brands—and with Basin & Range, they aimed to cultivate a unique identity rooted in adventure-worn authenticity. That’s where Coho Films and The Locals Project stepped in.
We produced four distinct short films, each following a real outdoor enthusiast—hikers, bikers, paddlers—from locations across the country. Our goal wasn’t to stage scenes, but to capture genuine moments and showcase how Basin & Range apparel accompanies people into the wild.
Building Connections Before the Camera Rolled
Behind every engaging video is a real human story we took time to develop. In the weeks leading up to each shoot, our team met each subject, discovering their daily routines, inspirations, and why they connect with the outdoor lifestyle. Those conversations deepened on-camera rapport, resulting in authentic, emotionally resonant storytelling.
Cross-Platform Strategy That Hits the Mark
With The Locals Project managing Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube channels, the film series needed to perform across environments. We collaborated to build a layered campaign strategy—from teaser clips and stills to full-length stories—driving engagement and encouraging deeper exploration of Basin & Range’s ethos.
The result? A seamless content pipeline that grew audiences, built trust, and helped customers see themselves wearing the gear on the trail.
