Building Community Through Play: Coho Films & One Roof Foundation Highlight Skyway Park

At Coho Films, we believe sports have the power to uplift, unite, and create lasting change—especially when access is expanded for youth who need it most. That’s why we were proud to partner with the One Roof Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Seattle Kraken, to produce a short video celebrating the Skyway Park Sport Court Dedication.

This project tells the story of how a renovated park became something more: a vibrant, safe space where kids in Skyway can gather, play, and dream.

Hockey is Just the Beginning

One Roof Foundation focuses its efforts on Access to Play, Youth Homelessness, and Environmental Justice. These three pillars aren’t just buzzwords—they’re guiding principles for how the organization invests in communities across the Pacific Northwest.

Skyway Park is a reflection of that mission in action. Once an underutilized space, the park now features a newly constructed multi-sport court, offering young people a chance to play ball hockey, basketball, and other sports—regardless of income, background, or zip code.

By creating access to hockey and recreation for BIPOC and underserved youth, One Roof is opening doors that many communities have found closed for far too long.

Elevating Local Art and Local Voices

To bring the court to life visually and culturally, local artist Troy Miles was commissioned to create a large-scale public art piece that anchors the park in community identity and pride. His artwork adds vibrancy, purpose, and a clear message: this space is for everyone.

Our video captures not just the court, but the people who helped bring it to life—from local leaders and organizers to the kids already making the court their own. It’s a powerful reminder that play can be a force for justice, joy, and connection.

Storytelling that Sticks

This wasn’t just a ribbon-cutting video. Our team focused on the people behind the project, the community it serves, and the deeper mission at play. With cinematic visuals and heartfelt interviews, the video we created with One Roof Foundation aims to show what’s possible when professional sports teams invest back into their city—not just in arenas, but in neighborhoods.
