MISSION-DRIVEN commercial on Suicide Prevention

At Coho Films, we believe in the power of human-centered storytelling to make a difference. Our recent commercial production for the Washington State Department of Health's 988 crisis and suicide prevention hotline is a strong example of how meaningful video content can help break stigma and connect people with lifesaving resources.

A Campaign That Hits Close to Home

This commercial focuses on older adults—a group often left out of mental health messaging. With a refreshingly honest and empathetic approach, the spot delivers a clear message: “We get it. Getting older can be tough. It’s okay to call 988.” This call to action speaks directly to a population that might otherwise hesitate to reach out for help, encouraging them to use the free and confidential 988 hotline for mental health support and suicide prevention.

Partnering with C+C: Creativity with Purpose

We were proud to once again collaborate with C+C, a Seattle-based agency we’ve partnered with on several important public health campaigns, including other work with the Washington State Department of Health. Their team’s dedication to doing meaningful, community-driven work always aligns beautifully with our values at Coho Films.

Behind the Scenes: Coho Films' Role

Our team handled full-service production, including:

  • Talent casting (selecting a lead older male actor who brought warmth and authenticity)

  • Wardrobe and art design to reflect the honest, lived-in tone of the concept

  • Storyboarding and pre-visual planning

  • Video crew coordination and on-set production

  • Editing and color grading for a grounded and approachable visual feel

  • Original music scoring to underscore the emotional tone of the message

Given the sensitive nature of the topic—suicide prevention among older adults—our crew approached every phase of the project with care, compassion, and professionalism. Mental health stories deserve to be told with intention, and our team worked to ensure that everyone involved felt supported and respected throughout the production process.

Why This Work Matters

Producing content that truly serves Washington communities is part of what makes this kind of project so rewarding. With this campaign, we hope more older adults across the state feel seen, heard, and encouraged to reach out for help through the 988 Lifeline.

Let’s Tell More Stories That Matter

If you’re a public agency, nonprofit, or brand with a mission-driven message, we’d love to help bring it to life. At Coho Films, we specialize in video production in Seattle and across Washington State, with a focus on real stories that inspire change.
